Vendor attitude checker: Litmus test to determine if a company takes quality seriously
I have a litmus test to determine if a company means it when it says, "Our company provides quality services." or is it lip service? Should I add this company to our approved vendor list?
It takes anything between a month to year to review a vendor. There are many steps involved. Even after this, sometimes one finds that vendor has a bad attitude. It just won't make improvements or take our suggestions seriously. So instead of wasting so much time, this vendor attitude test could be used to quickly remove bad apples and save time and cost. Run the longer version of checks only on those who pass this test.
I add the company's website to https://websiteswatch.com, and generate a report. I share only a couple of issues from it as a trailer and see if they fix those issues on priority. It does tell a lot about them.
There are cases when we do not know an objective problem exists on our website. By objective, I mean a spelling mistake and not a choice of colors. This situation is terrible but still okay. Websites are extensive and complex, and it is challenging to locate a problem. But there can not be an excuse for not fixing an objective issue even after knowing it. That means "our company provides quality service" is lip service, not practice. Stay away from such service providers. A website is company's first impression online also known as virtual credibility. If it's neglected, what does that say about your commitment to quality?
I suggest all companies use the above test or a similar one. We will be glad to perform this test on your behalf!
